Living and Building a home in the heart of France
3rd January 2006
The built-in vacuum cleaner has also been installed. The motor unit has been hung on the wall at the back of the garage, and will be connected up to the pipes laid inside the walls in every room in the house. The idea is that all the noise and dust is confined to the garage, and you just plug the flexible hose into one of the sockets without having to drag the machine around with you. We had a similar system in our previous house in the UK and it worked extremely well.
That's why we've stopped painting walls...!
Tuesday brought us plumbers and in one day the plumbing for the washing machine and outside tap was done, along with the fixing of a kitchen sink and taps, the loo and bathroom fittings.
We've bought units for a fitted kitchen including an inset sink, so we intend soon to move this sink unit into the utility room that we'll make at the back of the garage. We're not installing our kitchen though, until the builders have finished and gone.
The inset washbasin comes with cupboards, huge mirror and spotlights above, to be fitted next time they're here.
