Living and Building a home in the heart of France

Now we know what the horizontal rails half way up the walls are for.... holding the vertical rails firmly in place using a neat adjustable widget.
There are rails attached to the concrete floor and the plasterboard ceiling, and vertical rails screwed top and bottom.
Straps and rails have also been fixed between the beams in the vaulted ceiling section. In the two lowest parts they've added insulation and plasterboard.
That's so that they can extend the wall vertical rails right up to the sloping ceiling, as seen here in the corner of the kitchen.
The top rails are fixed to the plasterboard ceiling.
