Living and Building a home in the heart of France
1st October 2005
After shovelling and shifting masses of stone, levelling it using their beeping laser level, the whole floor is covered with plastic sheeting and reinforcing iron grid. Ready for the concrete floor to be poured.
On Monday 3rd October, Monsieur Trichard the site manager paid us a visit, in response to our letter about the roof problem. He agreed instantly that it was not right and promised the carpenters would be back 'early next week' to correct it - to take off the roof tiles each side of the two roof levels, take off the flashing and the gutters, then add another roof timber where it should have been, then replace flashing, gutters and tiles.
He said none of the workmen had told him about the error.
We said we ain't paying any more stage payments until it's fixed...
