Life in the heart of France
Fog and Festivity
6th December 2012
Sunrise through the fog lying thick on the fields, obliterating the line of oaks. Frost on the ground, the first goldfinches arriving at the sunflower seed feeder. Chilly mornings.
To put some colour into December, the Christmas decorations are up! The ropelights outside are getting a bit whacky, parts of them stubbornly dark, others flashing haphazardly.
Not being able to bring myself to part with €50 for an artificial tree, and not feeling good about killing a real tree for Christmas, I made one. It's an old tinsel garland, bent tree-shaped, adorned with baubles, hung from the light fitting. Voila!
Starting to feel festive now.
