Darnac Do in Reculat
The fireworks continued, in our own commune by the river in Reculat. Considering they were serving just hot dogs and skinny chips this year, rather than a 3 course meal, it was well attended.
David and Jill are radically renovating a house in a hamlet near ours, and although the house is nowhere near finished, priority has been awarded to rebuilding their bread oven! We were invited along to the grand opening of the oven, with Polly and Colin.
The team letting off the fireworks rowed across the Gartempe, and gave us an impressive display. Local lad Jack Law provided free entertainment and dancing followed until late.
Pizza Oven Première
the amount of wood required... and on the hottest day of the year so far generated enough heat for 50 pizzas. The wine flowed and the wonderful food just kept on coming... bread, pizzas, salads, mushrooms, baked potatoes, cheeses... and so much more. What a fantastic way to spend a sociable evening as the sun sets. We definitely need a bread oven in our garden, we've been thinking this for ages and now we are certain!
