Life in the heart of France
14th July 2012
We have discovered a lovely picnic spot, remote and peaceful, leafy and secluded, just 30 minutes' walk from home. Along country lanes, between fields of soppy Limousin cows and sheep, down a track, through the edge of a wood, the path leads down to a small lake, or a big pond, where you can walk along the dyke and find a picnic table on the grassy bank.
Sitting quietly you can see fish jumping. Walking along the bank, we startled a pair of coypu (probably, it was hard to make out what dashed away underwater). Apart from birdsong the quiet is complete.
What a find, and so close to home. It's taken us 8 years to find it!
We took Lee and Margaret to see this hidden gem.
