Another Sunday, another fête
The sun shone on us again, for this annual chestnut and cider fair in medieval Rancon.
The apples had been gathered, squished and filtered and the cloudy juice decanted into plastic litre bottles. Delicious to drink now, even better to let ferment a little and drink as cider in a week or so. We lunched with friends, on some excellent french fries followed by a slice
of this very good apple tarte. We watched the men roast their chestnuts in the one-of-a-kind roasting machine. We browsed among the bric-a-brac stalls. We visited a new art gallery in the village, we had a jolly nice afternoon.
Of course there was a beer tent!
