St Palais sur Mer 1036

In between family visits we squeezed in two days on the coast for ourselves. This is St. Palais-sur-Mer, a typical French seaside town near to Royan at the seaward end of the Gironde. It has a plethora of restaurants, bars along the flower-decorated promenade, small shops with end-of-season sales, glorious sandy beaches with rocky headlands and coastpath walks. This size of resort suits us perfectly - not too busy but with plenty to explore. We were lucky with the weather, mercifully cooler after one rainy day, but now bright and breezy.
