The 14th of July
Bastille Day, when every French town holds fetes and fireworks. We went along with Pauline to Le Dorat's celebrations, taking a blanket to sit on, a chilled bottle of fizz, the plastic flutes from our picnic set and a bag of crispy nibbles. We went early enough to find a place on the wall - better than sitting on the hard ground for an hour or so, and watched the gathering crowds at the Hotel de Ville, listening the town band playing as the sun went down. How very civilised!
As always the firework display was amazing, raising gasps, giggles, oohs and aahs right up to the finale which resembled an explosion in a firework factory. Bravo!
